ALEX JAHANGIR, MD
Alex Jahangir, MD is an orthopedic trauma surgeon at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. You may also know him as the head of Nashville’s Metro Coronavirus Task Force from his appearances on televised updates during the pandemic.
He has also served as the chairman of Davidson County’s Board of Health. What you may not know about Dr. Jahangir, however, is that he immigrated to the United States as a young boy, unfamiliar with our language and our culture. He began school in MNPS as a kindergartener, not knowing how to speak English.
Dr. Jahangir graduated from ML King Magnet High School and received advanced degrees from George Washington University, the University of Tennessee and Vanderbilt University. He and his wife Helen are raising their family in Nashville, and Dr. Jahangir’s commitment to serving his community and instilling that commitment in his family is laudable.
